Olympian

Our inquiry in term 3 for 3 weeks was Olympics. So throughout the 3 weeks we had to learn about some Olympians and more about the Olympics. Our class did something fun for the Olympic topic, we split into 3 different countries which was Japan, Argentina and Mexico. We were given challenges and whoever won got given a gold medal . Whoever had the most gold medals would get a prize at the end of the 3 weeks.

New Zealand Olympian-

The New Zealand Olympian I picked to research about was Valerie Adams. Dame Valerie Kasanita Adams also known as Valerie Adams is a New Zealand shot putter. She was born 6 October 1984 and is a four-time world champion. He personal best throw was 21.24 metres outdoor and Indoor 20.54 metres indoors. She is also related to Steven Adams a professional basketball player which they are siblings.

International Olympian-

He was born September 12 1913 in Oakville, Alabama United States and sadly passed away March 31 1980. He's also known as a four time gold medalist in the 1936 Olympic games. Matariki Weaving

On Friday 2nd of July we had a visitor named Whea Hei who came in to teach us how to weave since it was the Matariki Week. She decided to teach us how to make a ball using flax. I had to listen very carefully to the instructions given to us or else I would have ended up with something else. We continued with the weaving and at first I was struggling but then I ended up getting it and was one of the first to finish. After all the weaving, we had a feed which was nachos, mince and garlic bread. Overall it was very fun because I got to learn more about weaving, work together with my class mates and have a feed.
